This map was produced in collaboration between the Swedish Institute Alexandria (SwedAlex) and Description of Alexandria (DOA). It was created as a result of a co-creative process and a series of multi-stakeholder dialogues with representatives from different spheres of the Alexandria’s pluralistic and cosmopolitan history and its living built heritage.Maps are used in the in Description of Alexandria to identify buildings and as an output to provide a simple way to track the surveyed buildings. An earlier version of this collective map was produced in 2015, as a guide to selected studied buildings. The content of this map is the result of months of research, investigative site visits, and oral interviews with inhabitants or neighbors. Data about the buildings was not always accessible. Constant updates are added to ensure that the most up-to-date (2016) information is presented.
